Falling away

Produced as part of the Mord Anatomy's Momento Mori class...the brief was to produced a half living half skull image of yourself to remind you of your own mortality. I found a photo of myself taken at the penultimate gig I attended before lockdown- The Damned's Night of a Thousand Vampires st the London Palladium in October 2019. I went of course suitably dressed as a Vampire! In trying to use a the beautify function in a photo editing app to erase half my face so I could add the half skull I inadvertently ended up with this effect.

As my fear of death is not about the decay of the body (as I'm quite happy to parade around looking undead!) but the loss of my self, my consciousness and what essentially makes me me, I thought this was quite apt. And the irony of using a beautifying photo app to erase yourself with!
